Exciting up and coming Queensland Tongan netball star, Hulita Haukinima has placed her firm support behind Queensland Tonga Rugby Union by recently jumping onboard as an official ambassador of the program.
Haukinima is the first Tongan to ever be named in the Queensland Firebirds netball team, the home of the current ANZ Championship premiers and her support will act as a great encouragement for the Queensland Tonga Rugby Union’s continued push for women not just in rugby, but sport in general from the Tongan and Pacific community.
Queensland Tonga Rugby Union committee member Katalina Kite, could not help but be impressed with the budding netball star upon meeting her in person at the recent Kings and Queens of Pacific Rugby (KQPR) tournament, where Hulita went down, greeted the players in person and offered some kind words of encouragement before the players took the field for competition.
“Hulita’s desire to acknowledge her Tongan ancestry and promote positive participation in sports for youngsters (particularly women) in the Tongan and Pacific community here in Queensland speaks volumes about her humble persona and love of community. Her support is a huge endorsement for the program and its core values surrounding hard work, determination, and not accepting mediocrity in reaching your goals transcending any sport.”
Haukinima heads a list of impressive ambassadorial signings to have recently put their support behind the efforts of the Queensland Tonga Rugby Union’s work in the community, where further exciting announcements will be made in the very near future.
The entire Queensland Tonga Rugby Union family is honoured to have Hulita onboard as an official ambassador to inspire its young sportsmen and women.
